December is a frenzied time in the school system – full of learning, giving thanks, enjoying concerts, plays and crafts, doing good deeds and much, much, more – including eating too much food. It is the time of year when we make an extra effort to thank those who are important in our lives and to think of those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Being surrounded by young children and young adults, we are privileged to be part of their generosity and good will as they share what they have with others. The lessons they learn about the joy of giving and sharing warm our hearts and bode well for our society in future years.
Each year we work closely with colleagues and parents. We share with them life’s challenges and successes, triumphs and disappointments. We work together to create successes for every family that we serve. When disappointments or misfortunes intervene we are there to support and comfort them. At this time of year, those families that are facing difficult times depend on our support and encouragement, more than ever, and we are always there for them.
As you prepare to spend some time with family and friends, take time to thank yourself for the great work that you do each day. You are part of a team of people who, together, make a difference for children and their families every day. This community is better because of the work that you do.
Our leadership team wishes you a safe, fun-filled holiday season with family and friends. Enjoy a well deserved rest. Thank you for all your efforts in 2008 – it has been a busy year for all of us, but we are making great strides in achieving our goals of ensuring that all students are graduates with opportunities beyond graduation.
All the best for a satisfying and rewarding year in 2009!

Career Prep (WEX 12) programs are elective Work Experience courses. As a part of a Career Prep Work Experience program, students must complete 90 hours of Work Experience, usually in one specialized field of interest. Students will receive 4 credits toward graduation upon completion.
Students must apply for acceptance into the Career Prep program of their choice. This application is completed at the school level and must receive approval from both a parent and the sponsor teacher. Application forms are available through the school counseling department or the school’s Career Advisor.
Career Prep courses are an excellent way to learn or refine practical skills, network within the community and create potential employment opportunities! Career Prep students are given priority for valuable Work Experience placement opportunities.
Parents are encouraged to discuss this excellent option with their kids.
